Two locations in France are activated yearly – Haute Savoie in winter and Var in summer. Operating from Haute Savoie is not easy – mountains are all around. Difficulties with operating on the air are compensated by fantastic skiing and snowboarding in the French Alps.

Southern France is a different story. My modest vertical antenna can hear most DX signals and provide hours of fun on lower bands. Hyeres Islands are visited there. I use a monoband vertical or HF2V and 100W to activate EU-070.
