DXpeditions
EJ6DX – Aran Islands, IOTA EU-006
Aran Islands are located in the West of Ireland. Most trips are in December – January. Aran Islands is an absolutely magical place! It is always windy there and waives are massive. Much like all of the West of Ireland, Aran is a great windsurfing spot.
There are plans to activate the rest of Irish IOTA. They will be announced on EI6DX.COM.
6W/EI6DX – Somone, Senegal
In November 2009 between CQWW SSB and CW I am going to operate from Senegal, from a small village of Somone located 70 km Southeast of Dakar. I will concentrate on low bands and will work mainly CW. Participation in the Ukrainian DX and Japan Internation DX contests is scheduled at the weekends.
F/EI6DX – France, Haute Savoie and Var
Two locations in France are activated yearly – Haute Savoie in winter and Var in summer. Operating from Haute Savoie in winter is not easy. Mountains are significant obstacles for radio waves, no matter how big the antenna I cannot work USA or Asian DX. Difficulties with operating on the air are compensated by fantastic skiing and snowboarding in the French Alps.
Southern France is a different story. My modest vertical can hear most DX signals and provide hours of fun on lower bands. DXing is mixed with water sports, of which windsurfing is my favorite.
RK1OWZ – Russia, RDA
These are activations of RDA districts together with RK1OWZ members. RK1OWZ was on the air 24×7 for years in the 80s and 90s. At the moment, portable RDA trips are organized. Archangelsk and Kirov oblast are activated as well. Trips to 9 call area are made too. In the past DX-peditions to White Sea islands were also made.
I train in Shotokan in Ireland and visit Kyokushin dojos in Russia. Check out the Russian travel page to see some pictures of trainings and competitions in this great sport.
OK/EI6DX – Czech Republic
Every time I am in Prague or the North of the country in the area near Snezka mountain, I work as OK/EI6DX. The set up in Czech Republic is very modest – a set of short dipoles for WARC and low bands.
